PT Kertas Padalarang

PT Kertas Padalarang is the first paper mill established in Indonesia, founded on May 22, 1922. Originally established as NV Papier Fabriek Padalarang, the company has a long history of supporting the nation's industrial development and strategic document needs while continuously adapting to technological advancements and evolving market demands.

PT Kertas Padalarang is a company engaged in the manufacturing of security paper in Indonesia. Established in 1922 under the name NV. Papier Fabriek Padalarang, it was the first paper mill in Indonesia and operated as a branch of NV. Papier Fabriek Nijmegen of the Netherlands.

During the 1960s, the company was transformed into a State-Owned Enterprise (Perusahaan Negara/PN). In 1991, its legal status was changed to a state-owned limited liability company (Persero) under the name PT Kertas Padalarang, which it retains today.

The company's primary products are security papers. Of its three paper machines, two are dedicated to the production of security paper. Based on Decree of the Minister of Finance No. S-1334/MK.013/1990, dated 30 October 1990, PT Kertas Padalarang, as a company operating in an oligopolistic market, was recognized as having the opportunity to compete in the global market. Although the company has not yet produced banknote paper, it has been authorized by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia to manufacture both security paper and banknote paper.

In 2012, Perum Peruri became the majority shareholder with an ownership stake of 83.54%, which increased to 92.59% in 2014. In 2019, Perum Peruri further increased its ownership in PT Kertas Padalarang to 93.23%. The remaining 6.77% of the shares are held by PT Pengelola Investama Mandiri. This additional capital has further strengthened PT Kertas Padalarang's reputation as one of Indonesia's leading paper manufacturers.
